ANRE scope extended

The scope of the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE), formerly limited to electricity, has been extended to the entire Moroccan energy sector and now includes renewable energies, in particular hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives, as well as natural gas. Under the direction of Zouhair Chorfi, who was appointed as the new head of ANRE by King Mohammed VI on December 4, 2024, the regulatory authority is set to undergo a major transformation. He replaces Abdellatif Bardach, who has held the post since 2018. Chorfi previously held leading positions in the Moroccan financial administration, including Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administrative Reform.
