Green fuels for maritime transport

Enhancing the Green Shipping Corridor through the use of hydrogen-based maritime fuel

Morocco is striving to play a central role in tomorrow's maritime transport through its ports. In addition to exporting sustainable fuel to decarbonize maritime transport, the overall attractiveness of ports is to be enhanced by enabling the use of hydrogen-based marine fuel, thus integrating them into what is known as a Green Shipping Corridor. The World Bank and the EBRD are currently carrying out pre-feasibility studies looking at possible production, transport to port and bunkering in the ports of Jorf Lasfar, Nador Med, Mohammedia and Tangier Med. Both the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and the Ministry of Equipment and Water are supporting these activities at the highest level. A workshop to launch the activity was held on 15.01.2024 in Rabat.
