Morocco’s Power Grid Strengthens Its Capacity to Integrate Renewable Energy

Morocco is continuing to reinforce its electricity system to support the growing share of renewable energy. The National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has approved the national grid’s integration capacity at 10,429 MW for the period 2026–2030.

Integration capacity refers to the maximum amount of renewable electricity that the grid can accommodate without compromising its stability.

Publishing this integration capacity enhances transparency in the electricity sector and provides greater visibility for all stakeholders. It helps authorities, companies, and project developers better plan their actions and investments. Concretely, it also allows investors and developers to know how much renewable energy can be connected to the grid in the coming years.

This capacity represents an increase of 1,091 MW compared to the 2025–2029 period and 3,193 MW compared to the 2024–2028 plan. This growth reflects ongoing efforts to modernize the electricity grid and anticipate the development of new renewable energy projects.
