Morocco highly represented in Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue BETD2018

Within the framework of the Morocco-German Energy Partnership (PAREMA), the PAREMA Secretariat accompanies a high-level Moroccan delegation (17 representatives of MEME, ONEE, Masen, AMEE, IRESEN, SIE and the Solar Cluster), led by Mr. Abderrahim El Hafidi (Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development MEMDD), to represent the Kingdom of Morocco at the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2018 (BETD), an annual energy event taking place this year on 17 and 18 April in Berlin.

Opened by the Ministers of Germany's new government, including the Minister of Economics and Energy Mr. Peter Altmaier, the conference brings together again this year the major players in the world of energy, such as the heads of the international agencies of the IEA and IRENA. Mr. Abderrahim EL HAFIDI, intervenes to present the contribution of renewable energies to the energy security of the Kingdom. Mr. Ali Zerouali, Director of Partnerships and International Cooperation at the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN), intervenes on the subject of financing renewable energy projects. Mr. Badr Ikken, Director General of the Institute for Research in New Energies IRESEN, presents the priorities of the institute to engage in the path of electricity storage in liquid form ("Power to X" technology).

The international Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue is an annual event for the exchange of information on global energy transition and current energy policy developments, as well as innovations in renewable energy and energy efficiency. More than 2,000 decision-makers and experts from the world of energy policy and economics are expected in Berlin, together with more than 40 Ministers and Secretaries of State.

With the support of the GIZ, the PAREMA Secretariat supports the management of the Morocco-German Energy Partnership and acts as an interlocutor for Moroccan and German partners in the field of energy wishing to engage in this dialogue.
