Restructuration of the Moroccan Government: Karim Zidane is the New Minister for Investment

On October 23, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch presented the newly structured government. The nomination ceremony was presided by Mohammed VI, King of Morocco. In the Akhannouch II cabinet, 8 of the 24 ministerial posts (Ministers and Minister Delegates) were newly filled.

Karim Zidane has replaced Mohcine Jazouli as Minister for Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies (MICEPP). Zidane, who has more than three decades of experience in the German automotive industry at BMW, will now oversee strategic investment reforms and public policy evaluation. At MICEPP, his role will be to coordinate government efforts to attract domestic and foreign investment and present Morocco as an attractive destination for global businesses, e.g. for the renewable energy sector.

Other new members are: Mohamed Saad Berrada (Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports), Amine Tahraoui (Minister for Health and Social Protection), Ahmed Bouari (Minister for Agriculture, Fishery, Rural Development, Water and Forests), Azzedine El Midaoui (Minister for Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation), Abdessamad Kayouh (Minister for Transport and Logistics) and Naima Ben Yahia (Minister for Solidarity, Social Integration and Family Affairs).

Leila Benali, the Minister for Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, remains in her position, which she has been occupying since 2021.
