World PtX Summit 2024

A high-level German delegation was present at the 4^th World PtX Summit, which took place on October 8th and 9th, 2024 in Marrakesh. The delegation included the Ambassador Robert Dölger and Dr. Dorothea Schütz, Head of Sub-Division at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). Numerous bilateral talks with partners such as MASEN, IRESEN and OCP strengthened the German-Moroccan political cooperation. In addition, the delegation had an active role in events co-organised by the German development cooperation, including:

• Guarantees of Origin and the potential prospects for Morocco of a harmonisation with international standards: expert panel including Dr. Dorothea Schütz (Head of Sub-Division at BMWK), Zakaria Hachlaf (Secretary General MTEDD);
• The potential of German-Moroccan cooperation in the hydrogen sector during a B2B side event: organised by the AHK/Export Initiative and presented by the H2Uppp project.

Throughout the event the role of the German-Moroccan political dialogue was highly emphasized. In his opening speech, IRESEN President Samir Rachidi praised the successful cooperation with GIZ, KfW, BMWK and BMZ, which was particularly emphasized regarding the Power-to-Liquid reference plant. In addition, Leila Benali, MAR Minister for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development, thanked GIZ several times in her closing speech.
